Applying for life insurance if you are living with HIV

If you are living with HIV, you may wonder whether this affects your life insurance application. The good news is that your HIV status is unlikely to prevent you from taking out cover in Australia. Advances in modern medicine have reduced infection rates and improved the general health of many living with HIV, and many insurers now reflect these changes in their policies.

At Golden, our life insurance policies do not contain automatic exclusions for HIV. If you are diagnosed in the future, your cover remains in place and you may still be eligible to make a claim.

When taking out a Golden Life Insurance Policy, we will ask about your HIV status as part of our application process. As with any life insurance application, it’s important that you answer all of our questions truthfully, as any incorrect information could cause issues when the time comes to make a claim. If you have been receiving treatment within the last five years, unfortunately we’re not currently able to offer you cover.

If you need anything further, including other insurance options for people living with HIV, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our Australian-based team will be happy to answer any questions you might have. You can reach us on 1800 299 351 from Monday-Friday, 8am to 7pm (AEST/AEDT), excluding NSW public holidays.
